I enjoy receiving commissions for dog portraits, flowers and green spaces.  This can be a very special thing to do. I really need to get into the feel of what you experience and the feelings that are evoked for you; understanding this is an important part of the work.

My dog portraits are in pastels. And flowers and green spaces in oils.

I will require a few of your own good quality images to be emailed to me and to understand what in particular you would like to capture and any other requirements (eg size, timings).  I can then confirm full costs and any other details.  I need to be able to really ‘feel’ the essence of your dog, flower or special green space, the connection, meaning and what’s most important to you. It would be good to allow for a conversation if possible so that you can share any sentiments.

I would look to select an image that I feel most drawn to – and subject to your agreement, work with that.  Site visits may be possible but are subject to cost.

Please know there needs to be allowance for artistic interpretation and it would be important for you to like and appreciate my style of work. My work isn’t literal; I seek to embody and evoke feelings and of course want you to be happy with the artwork.

Commissions start from £450 (unframed) and are subject to your requirements. A 50% deposit is required to commence work.  I will email an image along the way so that you can see how things are going and another when I feel it’s completed. The balance of payment is required on completion of the artwork and prior to despatch.

Lead times are approximately 4-6 weeks from receipt of payment and after we’ve had that initial conversation.

Framing is often subjective and can be very personal so you may like to arrange your own framing. I can also put you in touch with a framer that I use locally in Kent, UK.  Or, if you’d prefer, I can organise the framing in the framing style I recommend and provide a cost for this. My recommended framing style for my dog portraits is a simple soft neutral box frame with the picture floating on a neutral background and a white-ish/grey tray frame for paintings.  Please see framing for more information.
